The Twenty-Four Days Before Christmas - Day 18

Our special thing for today was to decorate the dollhouse which the kids have done for the past couple of years. They always enjoy doing it and it does make their room nice with a Christmas tree and a lit up dollhouse. I think all the lights is one reason the girls like decorating it. I think it turned out nice and they were all happy with it.

They also put some more pictures in their scrapbook today - probably about 8 or 9. It is starting to look pretty good and filling up fast.  It will be a nice book for them when Christmas is over.

The Twenty-Four Days Before Christmas Day - 9

Today our special thing was to decorate our family room tree and make fudge and Rice Krispies Treats. Bethany made the fudge and it turned out great and Tess made some really good Rice Krispies Treats. Then we decorated the tree. There is quite a lot of enthusiasm going on in our house any time we do any decorating or baking or just about any Christmas activity. Today they were definitely excited. Tess can show more enthusiasm than anyone I have ever seen and today she definitely showed a lot. They worked on the tree for an hour or so and I think it looks nice now and we can finally clean up all the boxes and ribbon and beads out of our family room and make it a little more comfortable. Now we are almost finish decorating.

We also opened another bag and there were two books in today's bag - Christmas in the Country and A Full House. I absolutely love A Full House and Bethany said it makes here feel homey and cozy. Its a great book by Madeleine L'Engle about the Austin family.

We also started our new chapter book today - The Best Christmas Pageant Ever by Barbara Robinson. I only read two chapters today but I think the kids laughed almost the entire two chapters so it was definitely a good choice. Today was a really good day and we got a lot done.

Our Twenty-Four Days

Today we read our book The Twenty-Four Days Before Christmas by Madeleine L'Engle in preparation for our Christmas season and starting our Twenty-Four Days Before Christmas. No matter how old our kids are they all want to do our 24 days. In case you haven't followed us long and don't know what I'm talking about it's this: we got the idea from this book to do something special every single day in December till Christmas. So, for twenty-four days we will do some special thing each day - though it may be really small like putting candles in the windows or decorating the tree or just having hot chocolate.  The kids have all loved doing this for years and they all want to keep this tradition. So, tomorrow will start our twenty-four days. Hope you join us.
