Quick Update

Our homestudy is almost done! Our worker told us this week it will be finished by the end of January. Of course, we still have lots of paperwork to do for our dossier. When I think of our two little girls, so far away, it makes me want to do everything we can to bring them home quickly.

Another exciting thing happened this week -- we received our first donations! I was in our family room earlier this week talking to some of our girls, and my husband came in and said that someone had given a donation. It was such a thrill! Then on Wednesday I looked, and we had received another. It is so encouraging, and we are so thankful for the two people that showed such generosity in support of our efforts. Thank you.

  1. Sounds like we are in the same timeframe! Aren't those donations so incredibly encouraging?! So glad to have your blog address now. You have such a beautiful family.

    1. Michelle, It feels like we have such a long way to go. We haven't even filed our I800A yet and I know that can take some time to get approval. I am so hoping that we can get all of our paper work done in the next month -- I800A, fingerprints back and sent to DC, etc., but I don't think it will all get done-- especially the fingerprints. I looked at your blog and you have a beautiful family and your new addition is so cute.

  2. My husband was in the military so need 8 child abuse checks and still waiting for 3. Once those are back, our home study will be done but inour state home studies must be reviewed by DSS before going to USCIS :( if I remember correctly, that takes 2-3 wks! Only then can we submit our i800a. *sigh* it does seem like such a long process, especially since our Ukrainian adoption only took like 4 months in 2010.

    1. Wow, I guess I shouldn't complain! But, it does seem like such a long process. We also adopted from Ukraine in 2001 and it only took us 4 months -- almost sounds unbelievable now. I guess I didn't appreciate how quickly that one went.

  3. That's awesome! I'm so excited you're adopting these two! We considered adopting Allysen about a year ago... what a relief to see her going home. :-) I was trying to find your email address so I could connect with you - our son Jordan was adopted from the same orphanage as Allysen. I don't know what orphanage Bella is in... Anyway, I don't know if Allysen moved to the older kids orphanage or not, but we picked up our son from the baby orphanage there on 11/28.

    1. I am anxious to see what she looks like, too. The picture I have is pretty old. I wish we had some new pics of her.
