After I saw how few pictures I took on Christmas I was a little sad I had not taken more. I took so few. The thing that surprised me the most is that I didn't take any of the girls' dolls and I love having pictures of all the dolls they get. So, today I asked the girls to bring down all the dolls they got this year and we lined them all up and I got a few pictures of them. I'm glad I did this before some of the dolls get wear and tear. A few of the girls got more than one - we love dolls here and it will be a sad day when they no longer want one.
Oh my goodness! I am so glad that I requested Christmas photos! I have to tell you that you are likely to have a couple of girls who will forever love their “Babies “. I am over 50...
ReplyDeleteokay, over 60 (that’s as much as I will share)...😉. And, I still love dolls! I have quite a few different types. A collection of Barbies. But, I have a collection of Reborn dolls that are my favorites. I recently received a baby girl with Down Syndrome. She is 20” long and weighs about 6 lbs. She wears a size Newborn and 0-3 months. I don’t handle the reborn dolls, as they are true pieces of art. The doll with ads is made from an actual scan of a real baby girl named Patience. An artist creates a mold and then pours vinyl for the body parts. The kits are sold and are painted to create an infant doll to their liking. Every one is unique and a one of a kind treasure. I wish there was a way to send some pictures of my “Charlotte “ to share with you and your girls.
As I looked at the dolls lined up on the couch, I was immediately drawn to the one with the white hat. And, the last photo had the 2 I really liked. Oh, and I love seeing Sarah in her Nurse uniform!
Again, Thank You for making my morning. Take care and enjoy your day!
One more thing, how can it be possible for Andrew to be old enough to be in the Army?! Kids grow up so quickly and I know that you are aware of that. Thank our Lord for the precious gift of having some children who will stay at home with you for a while longer and for your many lovely Grandkids!
Bethany loves to look at Reborn dolls. She says she will buy one when she has enough money one day. She also thinks she may collect dolls. I am also a doll lover and will be sad when the girls no longer care about them. I should have an email button on my blog if you want to share pictures of your dolls with us. It is near the top of the blog.
DeleteGood for Bethany! Tell her to look up the United Federation of Doll Clubs online - they have a Junior Members section for those under 18, plus a LOT of online projects, articles and other interesting doll-related things.
ReplyDeleteI received my first doll for my first Christmas, when I was four days old, from my dear aunt, and am still collecting dolls all these years later. And I still have "Happiere" (pro. "Hap-eer", emphasis on "eer"), that first doll (so named because she looked happy, I said at age 2 1/2).
You're fortunate to live close to the Doll Shoppe in Richmond, where my good friend Rhonda used to work. She stays busy at the Kentucky Doll and Toy Museum in Carlisle, KY nowadays.
Happy Dolling!

Thanks for all the information - Bethany and I will both look it up. She is very interested in dolls and we talked today about collecting them and she said she would definitely be collecting dolls for a long time. She, of all my girls, likes them the best.
DeleteSearch for "UFDC Junior Collectors" for info - this page doesn't seem to link to the main UFDC site, but has quite a lot of content, including projects to do at home or with friends (or sisters!).
ReplyDeleteMy two young cousins attended a Junior Collectors' Tea at a UFDC national convention in Atlanta several years ago, and said it was like Christmas, as they brought home some very special souvenirs donated by a variety of individual doll clubs. There was also a regional convention in Williamsburg about 15 years ago that was great fun -much like an annual convention, but shorter and smaller. Williamsburg was a wonderful location and I had a great time.
Good luck collecting dolls, Bethany! It's a wonderful hobby.
Best wishes from

Thanks so much for all the information. We will definitely look up the Junior Collectors site. I’m sure Bethany will enjoy this.
