The Twenty-Four Days Before Christmas - Day 12

Today our special thing was to cut out snowflakes and then hang them. This was easy, but the kids had so much fun - and made a horrible mess. We just took a bunch of printing paper and scissors and the kids cut and cut. Even Sarah seemed to enjoy this and sometimes she just watches instead of joining in. I think everyone enjoyed our special thing today. So far this year I have not had much trouble thinking of small things we can do. Last year seemed harder, but then last year we had so many sick kids right before Christmas. It made things difficult. Thank goodness that so far this year only colds.

Also, today Bethany and Tess had their sewing class and made Christmas stockings so I will post a picture of their stockings. They really turned out nice. They enjoy this class so much and have made so many nice things.

After making all of the snowflakes, it was time to tie on the thread. This was not as much fun as making them and not many wanted to help. After they got them all ready, Andrew taped them to the ceiling.

  1. How fun! For a twist, I also have seen coffee filters used to make the snowflakes - if you want them to be round! You can also tie-dye color them using Crayola markers dipped in water (like watercolour paints), or watercolour paints. Your family is so beautiful!

  2. Wonder why I didn't think of the coffee filters? That would have been pretty.

  3. Love the stockings! I have been so inspired by you doing this the last couple of years that I told my kids earlier in the week that we will have 10 days of Christmas starting tomorrow! Now I'm scanning your ideas for inspiration!
